Lost Job, Facing Foreclosure

by Davina Borras
(Spotsylvania VA)

Hello, My name is Davina Borras and my husband I purchased our 1st home together in December of 2006 and everything was going good until I lost my job in January of 2008. I have taken a Temp job and recently got hired at a full time job and just waiting to hear my start date. We are 6 months behind on our mortgage and I asked the mortgage Company (PHH) to for assistance in April when we were 3 months behind. They sent our mortgage to a law office to begin the foreclosure in May and the sell date of our home is July 22, 2008. I had sent them everything that they asked for yet it took them 2 1/2 months to contact me only to request more pay stubs. The lady that is helping us says our only option is a repay plan which is fine but she wants 7000.00 up front and I don't have that to say the least. We have no place else go and want to keep our home.
My husband works fulltime and brings home 523.00 a week after taxes and I will be bringing home around 1400.00 every two weeks.

I don't know where else to turn. The law office that has my home (forclosure) says we have a Fannie Mae Mortgage and generally they only ask for 10% down of the behind amount and I don't understand why the Mortgage Companies Loss Mitigation Dept is being so difficult.

Do you have any ideas what we should do.
